Stage 4, Day 2

JB: I am researching information on Clonezilla and Xenconvert.  Our team discussed which of these to use and we believe that Clonezilla might be the better option.

- All teams recreated key pair and shared out their public keys
- File for sharing copied to SFTP server and encrypted with our public key

Day 13

JB: Created first page last week for our whole class.  Ran through html and php scripts and all seems to be working fine.  Turned over code to Chris for enhancement.

JB:  Today we experienced a glitch and I'm trying to fix it.  Last Friday our page came up fine, now we cannot get to it either from the outside or internally.  Working the issue.

Day 12 Stage 2

8/16/2013

YK: Downloaded the updated version for Gpg4win 2.1.1 and created a public and private key for my team, tested them and gave copies to each member, also helped set up keys for other teams.

To generate keys you first go to file and select new certificate, to extract a public key you click on export certificates and then you write click the certificate and click export secret keys to get the private key.

Day 07 Stage 1

Today we were just trying to connect to internally through the Zimbra Server. We created a Zimbra email account for each person in our EAGLE TEAM (looks better in caps). Every person followed the basic process of creating one, we didn't change any default configs. We also changed the Alias of our FQDN to something less shorter (team1.edu). So far we haven't had success sending or receiving email within our NET. Our classmate Chris will help us on the episode, because he thinks he might know the issue.

Day 06 Stage 1

Our Class worked on the midterm today. We had to figure our the ports that needed to be changed within Untangle, LAMP, Zimbra, and TrixBox SERVERS and then we had to virtually create PORT FORWARDING RULES WITHIN ROUTER (UNTANGLE), and we also had to enter IPs, FQDNs, WANs, LANs, and DNS's information into a Diagram.

We will be installing Zimbra server TODAY!

UPDATE:
YK: Today, our EAGLE TEAM installed ZIMBRA MAIL SERVER successfully, We run into two errors that KELLY has mentioned before, and as he said we just IGNORED them and moved on. All of our services within ZIMBRA ran awesomely fine and that Including: SPAM FILTER, ANTIVIRUS and SO ON....
A trick to be able to log in as an ADMIN through the WEB BROWSER is to change the password for the account "ZIMBRA" which we had NO idea it existed and it goes like this---> |passwd zimbra| (all lower cased)

Monday we will be helping our CLASSMATES to set up ZIMBRA with the correct configurations. Some TEAMS have already installed ZIMBRA but not as AWESOMELY as US (no! we're not being arrogant). They did not installed it correctly! After we will be done helping them, WE will move on to INSTALL some CRUCIAL components into UNTANGLE SERVER. HERE IS THE LIST (supposedly this had to be done before installing ZIMBRA, but well, it's not my job to prioritize things):

- Web Filter – Prevents access to undesirable web sites
- Virus Blocker – Prevents viruses from reaching computers on the network
- Spam Blocker – Stops junk email from getting through
- Attack Blocker – Stops denial of service (DOS) attacks
- Phish Blocker - Protects people from identity theft "phishing"
- Spyware Blocker - Protects people from websites that install malware
- Firewall - Hides your network from the Internet
- Intrusion Prevention – Protects the network from hackers
- OpenVPN – Allows secure remote access to the internal network
- Reports - Shows who is doing what online Automatic updates

You guys have a BLAZING weekend.

Day 05 Stage 01

Today we are waiting on other teams to get their LAMP set up the way we did ours so that way everyone is caught up. At this moment, team1 members are helping other teams with their LAMP installing process.

JB:  Installed LAMP 10.0.4 with Jareth this morning.  Tested SFTP to ensure problem configuration and the ability to connect via client software.  Success!  (knock on wood) Helped Team4 configure their SFTP as well.  They are now able to connect.

Day 04, Stage 1

July 29, 2013

Daniel: We tried to connect to our LAMP server, but  there's some problems that we can't figured out.
Jareth decided to reinstall it because we have a lot of changes on it. We don't know what.

Day 03 Stage 1

July 26, 2013

JB: Troubleshooting Debian lockup on our client boxes with team.  We are troubleshooting the issue at this time to determine the cause and solution.> Problem Fixed, Ubuntu 13 instead of Debian 7.1

Jareth: I haven't gotten a chance to get on the blog, I'm going to sum up what we did this week. On Monday we started getting windows installed but we only got it on two of the clients and we got untangle installed.
On Tuesday at lunch John and I burnt cds of Ubuntu 8 trixbox and debian 7.1 for the whole class. Then on Wednesday we got the last windows machine installed along with all the drivers and we installed all the debian machines and also we got all the DNS entrees for our internal network so our clients could get out to the internet.
By the end of Wednesday we found out that the debian machines would lock up for no reason even after getting video drivers were installed. On Friday we were told to switch to Ubuntu 13 so Daniel and I burnt copies of it for the whole class and we got all of the Ubuntu clients installed and I went in and changed the DNS entrees.
Last but not least John and Younes got lamp installed along with webmin and myphp. We also tried setting up SFTP but we don't quiet have it working just yet.

DAY 02 STAGE 1

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

If you any member of this team is viewing this please input the things that you have accomplished today.

Younes Kerrou: Installed/configured Debian 7.1 on the hard disks and made sure that the connection between our Untangle server and the workstations works fine. Before we had to connect to the WAN interface, we came across a problem with a missing file which was NIC's firmware, so I went about looking for that on the internet and shared it with my classmates who were having the same issue as us. Once I logged into Debian's GUI interface, I saw that the GNOME 3 failed to start, and I will be installing the video card's driver very soon. Another important thing, I was able to figure out how to remotely connect to the Untangle server on a Windows 7 workstation.

JB:  Made notes during the installation process of Debian and a Windows 7 box.  Assisted team members in configuring Untangle properly with proper FQDN and Domain name.  Configured windows 7 client with static ip for connection to Untangle. Helped install cables to switch.  Documenting steps we are taking in the creation of our network to be used in the development of our continuity binder.  Worked with and helped other teams once our network was properly configured and helped other teams as I was helping to configure and document our network. Helped checked configuration with Jareth and annotated NIC MAC #'s for our server nics.

Daniel: Installed Java on windows clients, changed IP configurations, fixed some problems of cables to connect to the internet with Jesse. I also wrote some notes of errors when installing Debian, and switch back all the cables before we leave the room.
We also tried to install LAMP server, but the other team told us not to do it because they're not done yet.
